Wow, beautiful image, makes me think of a astronomical event.

How did you get this effect? I admit I can't figure it out. :geek:

Whoa! :o I second Carbonflux, it looks like a black hole with different layers of falling gas emitting in x-ray. Beautiful.

I was playing around with J the Ninja's laser scene: viewtopic.php?f=36&t=6485.

Red lasers are cheap, those laser pointer devices are everywhere, a blue laser tho might be more of a problem. I think it would be interesting to do this as part of a gallery show; show the render and then the experiment etc.

Any chance of re-framing this at 16:9 or 16:10? Then maybe we could do a a community render at some huge resolution like 2560x1600 (or even bigger) and make an epic wallpaper out of this?
