Nice, I like it.

Some comments:
- It seems to be rendered with lux 0.5, is that right? If so, you REALLY should try one of the CVS builds, or re-render it with 0.6 which will be out "real soon now" (hopefully). Chances are it'll look WAY better.
- The dining table should probably be placed a bit further into the room, it looks as if I'd have trouble sitting against the outer walls there, due to lack of height under the ceiling.
- Some paintings on the far wall would do wonders, as well as some logs in the fireplace.

Hi,

Indeed it does look like a v0.5 render.
Get a latest weekly build from the weekly builds forum here, you'll notice your render will look MUCH better and it will render 2-3x as fast :)

I like the composition, and the many books on the shelves :)

I like the composition as well but I am not fooled by the books in the shelves. (And I like to be fooled by these architectural renders.) They are obviously a dup'd set of 4 shelves. Because of the color the eye is drawn to them so it would be wise to make them more believable. I haven't figured out what the furniture is to the right of the fireplace but ... I've got a few things like that in my house that I can't figure out :) .

This book texture was mentioned in another render (may not have been this forum) and it makes me wonder if this is some common bookshelf texture. Now my brain always checks the bookshelves.

Thanks for the comments!
Yes, the image is rendered with 0.5. How does it show?
I will re-render it the latest build as soon as I have the time to install it. I'm using ubuntu so I have to figure out how to do it. Maybe with alien?
The dining table is further into the room than it seems, you can sit there, but I agree that it doesn't look that way. The books are from a 3dmodel I downloaded a long time ago, the original model is made by Andrew Kator, http://www.katorlegaz.com.

To the right of the fire place stands a buffet designed by Gerrit Rietveld in 1919. The dining table, chairs and the lamp are also designed by him.
The table and sofas to the left are designed by Tom Dixon.

Version 0.5 has this special "pink sunlight". New versions are MUCH more natural, warmer and just way better :)

As for ubuntu... I must admit I don't know how that'll work right now, but that's certainly something we should support if we don't :)

I just installed the latest build and have started to render again.

I installed from source as described on the wiki-page "Building on Linux". It was really easy, excellent instructions!

Awesome, waiting in excitement for the updated rendering. If you could be so kind as to not delete the original, it would be nice to have a "old vs new" comparision.

I have uploaded a new image, rendered for about 20 h. with the same .lxs file.
The only change is that the saturation on the book maps is decreased by 50%.

Now that looks great! I immediately noticed that the table looked to be much further into the room than in the previous image. Very nice scene indeed!
