Hi,

I think you should definitely put that footage on the v1.5 features page in the wiki.

They would go up, but with the adaptive rendering of BiasedPath it would only affect the part of the image containing the spaceship. I'll make a test tonight.

Okay, I'll do that.

I think 30 seconds per full HD frame is pretty good, right ;)

Cool :D

I made a few tests: I added a sphere with 3 materials (top left: mirror, bottom left: glossy, right: matte) as a dummy object.

Path + Sobol, 30 seconds like before:
02_path_30s_converted.jpg

Biased Path with adaptive rendering takes 218 seconds for this result:
01_biaspath_3min38s_converted.jpg

Path + Sobol also rendered for 218 seconds for comparison:
01b_path_3min38s_converted.jpg

You will have to open the images in a new tab for the differences to show, the thumbnails are too small.
Maybe I can tweak Biased Path a little more to be faster, but I already used every trick I know.
Btw. this is all on the CPU since the AMD compiler crashes Blender when trying to compile any scene containing heterogeneous volumes for the GPU. Compiling for the CPU works, but is slower than C++ CPU rendering.

I expected something like this. Biased path shines here since this kind of scene seems to be made for it, and Sobol pattern clearly visible on unbiased versions due to insufficient sample count.
But still render times are really small compared to what I'm used to, and fast biased option is probably the most useful thing for everyone who's going to make VFX/animations with Lux. Thanks for sharing the tests!

Another quick volume test: slicing of a volume with an animated color ramp. Video: https://youtu.be/XouTBDXsB2w
The idea is to move the light emitting part through the texture... hard to explain, maybe pictures help:

Another one: https://youtu.be/yV9h_BeDNl0
I really like them (probably because they render so fast, 12 seconds per frame for this one).

Try 2 looks like tomography and try 3 like aurora borealis. Very nice results!
