Nissan Silvia S15 front

Postby Mr Bob Felder » Thu May 31, 2012 12:51 pm

This is my latest work, the front of a Nissan Silvia S15. I exported the model from the racing game Need for Speed Shift and reworked it a bit.
Originally my plan was to print it out as a poster that's why I rendered in 3200*1200. But there are some parts of the model I don't like how they are (the glass of the headlight looks weird above the Silvia logo / no texture on the tire) and rendering on my Core2Duo Macbook is dead slow so I decided to stop the render at 490S/p.
Anyway I think it's not too bad and wanted to show it to you.
Feel free to comment on things I could do better because I want to improve the model and re render it.

I'm quite sure you would get help from members of this forum when you re-render the improved scene. I for my part would help out with a few hours of CPU time on my hexacore.

The model looks clean to me, but it lacks details and imperfections that make out photorealism.

The hub cap looks like it isnt made of metal... it needs to be more reflective :)

Im not sure whats going on with the glass though... what settings did you use?

Anyhow, ts looking very nice :) Will make a great wallpaper :)

Thanks :)

@B.Y.O.B.: Thanks for the offer to help rendering, I think I will do the new render in 1920*1200. Because with the resolution at 3200*1200 the flm files are 350-400mb which makes sharing them a bit difficult.
I will try adding a texture to the tire for more details but I don't really now where and how I should add imperfections.

@zeealpal: I wanted to make the rim look a bit like a matte bronze but like you said it should be more reflective.
The glass is more a mesh based problem I think. Because it's exported from a computer game the mesh is based on triangles that create weird effects when I add subsurf. I'm pretty sure the glass will look better after changing the triangles to quads.

EDIT: Began to redo the headlights to make them look more realistic. Rendered this picture to 2,26kS/p to test my new Core i5 3450 ^^
