luxrender glass-cauchy-b animation

Postby wouter215 » Fri Jul 01, 2011 2:28 pm

(to late for the simple is beautiful contest  )
(still managed to add the 75% version ;) (could someone change the name in the gallery to "Luxrender Cauchy-B animation"?))

50% complete version:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=giqD3uGG0DU

frame 300 is corrupt

cauchy-b is the only thing that is animated, yet it seems that cauch-b is releated to IOR?

edit1:

fixed version:

Of course it is :) It is a parameter of the Cauchy model to describe material IOR: IOR=A+B/lambda^2
As you can see, the higher the cauchyb, the higher the higher the IOR, but also the more dependent on the wavelength the IOR becomes. Which your animation perfectly shows.

At the time of your post it was not too late. If you can post it here quickly, i'll ad it in.

Edit: Better yet, I'll leave the competition gallery open for 1 more day.

i have uploaded the 75 % version, if i render to the 1000th frame (3 minutes per frame, now at 825), can i still upload that one to?

This is our first animation entry. Most unexpected. Very awesome.

85 frames to go!

(off topic: i've set the queue to render to 200 S/p but it renders every frame to 207.19 S/p?)

Sometimes it takes a minute to stop, kinda like a car. Have to stop safely.

by the way, does my entry conflict with:
2. You must create a new original work, you cannot re-render something you have already done. Reusing old models, however, is acceptable.
since i ... no. never mind.

5. The only post production allowed is what is built in to LuxRender. (We are trying to showcase LuxRender, not Gimp or Photoshop.)
does mencoder count? i need it to make the animation, the command:
Code: Select all
mencoder "mf://*.png" -mf fps=25 -o cauchy-b2.avi -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4

I guess that's better than 1000 separate png files. :P
