Sintel (Splash Contest)

Postby LadeHeria » Sun Mar 20, 2011 6:02 pm

Hi,
This afternoon, I was testing around skin shader, when appeared in my head this idea :
To make a Sintel render for the Splash Contest.

Original render, test of "SSS"

Sintel render, just a part of final render, 1 hour rendering.

What do you think about it ?

Wow, that looks very good so far. I love the eyes and of course the skin looks very nice, just the right tone imo.

Great idea for a splash screen :)

Hi,
Thanks for all your comments !
I think now the skin shader is ok (made some change on the bump map), hair need some improvement (polygons can be seen).

Render without noise.

EDIT : A little test with GPU rendering; but it doesn't work : Image

 Wow, that's great! Which method did you use for the hair export? And what are the material settings of the hair material and the skin material?

This looks great! It really shows how volumetrics can be used.

That hybrid bug has been around for a while, it is due to mix materials.

For the hair, I convert all the hair to polygons, and extrude it. Rest is on the shader. Sintel is toon character, so with the hair I want to have Toon Hair (Big, large and funny color).

I think the bump is since a little to big.

Model (.blend) will be released at the end of the contest.

It's amazing, I haven't any mix material... and, if you just had a cube with volumetrics (interior/exterior medium), you will have this bug.

Did you try RC2? I think they fixed the volume and GPU bug.
