Amiria WIP

Postby Radiance » Tue Apr 08, 2008 1:58 pm

Hi all,

Here's something i've been slowly working on in the last days (jippy, my cast is off :) ),
i've had it lying around slowly updating it during the last months...

I'm intenting to work a lot more of this scene, to create my best render ever...

Comments and ideas for further improvement appreciated.

I used ivy generator for the ivy on the building.
the building is actually a model of an existing building on 'amiria st' in auckland which i've used,
since it's pretty good...

very nice picture radiance, a lot of potential be become your best render ever ;)

There a are two issues on this image that seems strange for me:

1) on a such sunny day in real life such a building with 1001 windows shouldn't be that dark inside!
Maybe only a tonemapping issue...

2) The statue in the front seems to have some serious darkening on the edges.
This reminds me on an issue Indigo got with phong that have low IOR and exponent values
finaly fixed in 1.0.8...

I'm loving this one. Great job Radiance. It really has a photographic feel.

Yeah i blew up the exposure and gamma to give it a more photographic feel,
maybe a bit too much :)

Yeah, I've noticed this before, but i think it's different than the indigo problem.
I'll play around with it. (might be because i'm using a substrate with no fresnel scaling)

Anyone got any ideas on what to add next ? :)
I was thinking 1 or 2 bicycles leaning against the front of the building...

need to find me a nice detailed/accurate bicycle model though, no time to model one :)

I really like how the ivy came out BUT this same ivy, along with the dark interior, gives the scene a somewhat lifeless/abandoned feeling.
Bicycles would surely help :)
What about a fountain? I experimented using blender's fluid simulation with lux before... it looks good. :D

Hi,

Very nice render indeed. Some idea to try to improve it still:
- the sky looks over saturated near the horizon
- the leaves are maybe slightly too shiny
- maybe add some furnitures or art works in the basement (in the left room especially as it currently looks rather empty)
- maybe add some slight texturing to the wooden chairs

I'd like to have your artistic skills though.

Very nice-looking scene. I really like your sun system. Did you actually model all this grass?

yeah,

it's a patch of geometrical grass, uv mapped about 1 meters square,
and i instance it in pieces...

still need to randomize them a bit :)

if you want it, let me know :)

I'd get a call from my neighbors if my grass was that long!

It looks really good, but I'd make it shorter. It looks kind of large for a lawn (at least lawns that I see here in the US.)
