Does ERPT use the muation range value as well? If so that might be helpful :)

ERPT with a chain length of 256 works pretty well, apart from the weird border halo thing in this render. In some other scenes this doesn't happen - not sure why :?

The blue cube has SSS
Note that the specular highlights, of the Sun etc never seem to show up in ERPT renders

quick SPPM version - I used an arc of 0.25 from a radius of 2 , so it started to get really grainey as time went on
But the refracted caustics in the ear always show up very quickly, but some of the other more complex light path caustics and specular highlights don't always show up

My first impression is positive when i lowered from default mutationrange (600 pix in my case) to 32 pix.
Now texture and caustics render super sharp.
