Hi, i've been doing a little contest with my colleagues this afternoon, to create a small 200m2 house in wood/steel frame.
this is my 'entry' :) @280 S/px

after looking at different posts, i can't figure out the way to create a convincing full 3d environment.
I started experimenting with arbaro today. not bad but i have trouble exporting UVs.
I tried to create grass with a particle system / object vis, but it sucks.. and using a simple grass texture looks flat !
i usually use gimp to composite my work back in a photo plate.

I'm wondering what solution do you guys would use ?

just set the object to bounding box view and you can make hundreds of instances with ALT+D without getting slow viewport performance in blender...

Hi,

If you haven't already seen it, there's a VERY interesting paper to be presented at SIGGRAPH regarding tree generation.http://algorithmicbotany.org/papers/selforg.sig2009.html.

I hope it will soon be implemented in an open source software...

Nice, you're doing a very good job. How have you instanced the grass? Duplivert/faces? or one by one?

In edit mode, there is a "Random..." option in Select menu of the 3D View window.

Nice house and image by the way!

-> jeanphi : Thanks for the link, i just spent some time reading it, for sure, the approach is very different from lsystems, so is the result !
-> Seregost : Thanks, i created a polygon that fills the perspective camera angle of view and created a particle system with spin for patches rotation. Duplivert, and alt-D hand-filling of holes.
-> Abel : Thank you very much ! I'm tuning the leaves right now !
