CAD rendering

Postby pager48 » Mon Apr 02, 2018 7:40 pm

I have not been able to get luxrender to work with stl files, I couldn't find out how to convert to its lxq file requirement at least without downloading a huge software package like blender and even then I don't know if it will do whats needed.

Are you using any other DCC or CAD app?
You could also try FreeCAD, which supposedly also supports luxrender.
Otherwise express your needs (and post files, if possible) and maybe someone here will help you out... ;)

cheers

Don't get me started with freecad, its virtually unusable due to its GUI. I use onshape, an online cad package it can export to many model types but not to the one luxrender needs.

I uploaded some cad files I made I would like to have them rendered as different materials in a different scene, onshape is very cumbersome with rendering, Im finding luxrender as not being an option too. Maybe someone can point me how to get them to be rendered with luxrender.

Oh... still lots of work, time to invest.
Well, if you persist to do it with Lux, i think it would be best to just get any of the apps (blender/sketchup/c4d/max/freecad...) and do as you wish
or send inquiry to a professional
;)
& Stay well

Here are your both scenes (lxs) to render with Lux.
