Well I finally cast my votes. Must say the top 5 surely deserve their votes and would have voted for these if they needed it. So put votes more for the underdogs or whatever you call it.

Entry no. 22, the abstract cubes or blocks, really makes a superb artistic composition/ effect.

Entry no. 16, the 3 Muses of Lux, I really like also, though would prefer the same scene with more modernistic austere architecture.

Entry 18, the car front, really like the lighting and the modeling in this, only personally if I could do cars this well, would try to design my own concept model. But of course, you don't prove as much unless you model a real life car.

Great work! (maybe should keep my personal comments, but again many people prefer some input or criticism to nothing at all).

Hi,

The poll is now over. This has been a great experience with a lot of submissions and a lot of voters (we almost reached the 400 mark), actually much more than the previous edition for v0.6, big thanks to everybody!

The uncontested winner is xray and his wonderfull soap render which got 121 votes, far ahead of the others. This will soon become the new splash screen for LuxRender, congratulations:


Congratulations to vimax who finishes second with 63 votes for his nice and clean render showcasing the new absorption feature:


Third place is almost a draw, but finally heretic got it with his colorfull butterfly and 27 votes:


I think pinko deserves a honorable mention for his fourth place just one vote behind:


Now that the poll is over I'll give some details about my own vote. After just a few days, it seemed obvious that xray was going to finish first so eventhough it was my own favorite, I concentrated on the other works and I happen to have chosen those that finished 2nd, 3rd and 4th.

There was indeed a flood of submissions and I'm very impressed by the quality of work shown. That just makes it that much more fun to work on this project

Thank you for the votes and congratulations to xray, I voted for you too. You can almost feel the unbiased rendering in it. A little too much CA and something about the shadow of the middle green soap looking like a contour keeps it from being perfect for me but that's a personal choice, definitely the best one.

Also, if the butterfly image would have had proper dof and bokeh like macro photography would produce it would have taken my place for sure.

Heh, nice, my cooler is on the fifth place. Considering it wasn't made specifically for the contest and I've put it just like a stub, this is a really pleasant result.

On the other hand, one thing disappointing me is both works by Carbonflux received so few votes. Don't looks fair.

Its all about learning - since this was my first shot at organics I feel comfortable after all. Alas thats the exact reason why I chose this scene. I could still gloat if I needed to by telling am into 3D for only 7 month

This was a fun contest and it really made me feel good about how strong the community is.

I don't mind not getting a lot of votes, this kind of "graphic" work is something I have always struggled with.
