Unfortunately this won't help with the glibc issue: if Qt version is asking for it, so would be the Wx one.

buuuhuhu I can't run new version of my lovely renderer

Don't whimper, are you a grown-up boy or what? :) I'll try some tricks, maybe I could get a completely static build for you (at least luxconsole), but won't promise anything.

hi at all
I'm on windows 7 64 and I have big problem with memory consumption.
I tested the same scene with differents LuxRender Releases (0.6 and 0.7 RC1)

* With 0.6 memory "load" is about 1gig (1.087 mb, precisely), viewing task manager.
* whit 0.7RC1, clay render, memory is about 971mb
* with 0.7RC1, normal render ..... over 3gigs

There's something that I can do about this issue or is a know problem that will be resolved?
Thanks in advance and keep it up with your precious work :)

We found a bug shortly after the release of RC1 which would increase the memory usage of textures by up to 5x. I'm guessing this is what you experience. This has been fixed.

The issue is fixed in the repository, however we haven't released an updated build yet. I suspect RC2 is around the corner soon though.

Did you install the Qt framework? If not, you can either install it or get the latest build from http://www.jensverwiebe.de/Jens_Verwiebe/Software.html as that build doesn't require a separate Qt installation any more.

I noticed in the repositories the latest entry is "Clamp roughness values of new glossy material..."

I can't check the ammout it clamps to but I already have to edit the material files by hand because the 1000000 exponent which is the maximum number that can be entered only gives 0.001414 and I need at most 0.0010 to get a decent gloss to simulate a polished stone or a paint with a good gloss on it, prefferably half that.

I understand there are some issues under a certain value but if it clamps to, say 0.0014 it would render the RC2 useless for me.

Hi,

It clamps to 0.0001 which corresponds to an exponent of 100000000, I doubt this will be of any practical relevance, but it will prevents artifacts from happening with lower values.
