LuxRender becomes an Software Freedom Conservancy member

Postby jeanphi » Thu Sep 25, 2014 11:40 am

Hi all,

We are very proud to announce that LuxRender has now become a member project of the Software Freedom Conservancy alongside other great open source projects.
We were really longing to be part of Software Freedom Conservancy. This will be a great answer to all of you who had expressed their will to donate to the project, and it will offer us new possibilities to expand LuxRender development and visibility. Thanks to the Conservancy for supporting LuxRender.

There is now a new page describing how you can donate to the project.

Conservancy is a non-profit public charity that provides a range of financial and administrative services to member projects that develop Free, Libre, and Open Source Software (FLOSS). Conservancy's assistance allows software developers and documenters to focus on those activities exclusively.

By joining Conservancy, LuxRender obtains the benefits of a formal non-profit organizational structure while keeping the project focused on software development and documentation. Joining Conservancy allows projects to collect donations, hold assets, and provide some liability protection for their lead developers' project-related activities. Software Freedom Conservancy, Inc. is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization, incorporated in New York State.

"We're excited to have LuxRender join the Conservancy family," said Tony Sebro, Conservancy's General Counsel. "The LuxRender community is doing wonderful work relating to rendering, and by providing them a non-profit home, we'll be able to do more than ever to support the development of great software for visual artists, animators, and graphic designers — all freely-licensed for the public's benefit."

A big thanks to all of our users for their continued support over those years, we really want to continue providing you with a state of the art rendering software.

Congratulations!

Please, could you explain me how the donation page is supposed to work on your website? The reason I am asking it is that after the phrase "The preferrd method of donating is via paypal:" there is just a blank field and nothing else. No submit button or "push to go to Paypal to pay" or any other clue about how to proceed for the donation. Possibly I am blind and don't see something obvious but please clarify which is the procedure to follow.

Thank you
Harvester

Sorry for the confusion.

We are aware the Paypal donations button is broken at the moment and working on fixing it.
EDIT: Fixed.
