Get black image.
More exactly:
1. Install LuxBlend according to http://www.luxrender.net/wiki/index.php ... structions.
2. Open Blender 2.54. Select Luxrender in render list.
3. Run render for default cube scene. Get three files: untitled.Scene.00001.lxs, untitled.Scene.00001-geom.lxo and untitled.Scene.00001-mat.lxm
4. Open Luxrender GUI. Open file untitled.Scene.00001.lxs and render it.
5. Get black image in the Luxrender GUI.

All three generated files are attached.

That's because the default cube has a point light. Switch it an area light. (Also, it will look a lot nicer if you add a ground plane)

The installation problem might be to do with what you think <blender scripts> directory is. Can I ask exactly where you put the downloaded source and where your blender is installed ?

To make things clear: If blender is installed into c:\blender-254\blender.exe, then you should use <blender scripts> = c:\blender-254\2.54\scripts\

Hi,
I'm also trying unsuccessfully to install and enable LuxBlend25. I already checked this thread, but cannot find the answer to my problem.
I manually installed it, following exactly the instructions from the wiki. Then when I try to enable it in the "addons" tab, it's already checked by default, and I cannot uncheck it. Anyway it won't display in the menu...
Here is the console log (last line is when I try to uncheck the addon) :
Code: Select all
found bundled python: /usr/local/blender25/2.54/python
(...)
[EF 2010-Sep-22 14:14:48] ExporterFramework detected and loaded from /home/xxx/.blender/scripts/modules/ef
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/local/blender25/2.54/scripts/modules/bpy/utils.py", line 391, in addon_enable
    mod = __import__(module_name)
  File "/home/charles/.blender/scripts/addons/luxrender/__init__.py", line 45, in <module>
    from .core import RENDERENGINE_luxrender
  File "/home/charles/.blender/scripts/addons/luxrender/core/__init__.py", line 42, in <module>
    from luxrender.export.film import resolution
  File "/home/charles/.blender/scripts/addons/luxrender/export/__init__.py", line 31, in <module>
    from luxrender.outputs import LuxManager
  File "/home/charles/.blender/scripts/addons/luxrender/outputs/__init__.py", line 31, in <module>
    from ef import log
addon_disable luxrender not loaded, nothing to do

Here is my exact setup :
I'm on Ubuntu Lucid x64,
I have python 3.1.2 installed from the repos
-> Blender is self-compiled and installed in /usr/local/blender25
-> My scripts are installed in /home/xxx/.blender/scripts
-> The exporter framework is installed in (...)/scripts/modules/ef
-> LuxBlend25 is installed in (...)/scripts/addons/luxrender
blender, luxblend25 and the exporter framework are the latest revision

The strange thing is, back a few weeks ago, it used to work when I put Luxblend and the EF in the /io folder.
Then (following the wiki's instruction), I moved the script in the /addons folder. I could enable it, but couldn't launch luxrender when trying to render (getting some missing bpy.ops.ef.msg message)
And now, I simply can't enable the addon...

Any help will be greatly appreciated !

I'm struggling like many people but will now wait patiently until further development is done. I did manage to get an external black LuxRender of the default cube (with incorrect lighting) but then lost the capability on further adjustments. (I'm sure I had it once back there - but I'll hang on a week or so and see what improves). Thanks anyway Doug.

The installation instructions have been updated again to reference the available source code mirrors: http://www.luxrender.net/wiki/index.php ... structions

Please note that the code no longer exists on github, all git repos and references to it are now officially out of date.
