Yes, indeed. However the network rendering code could probably be extended or a telnet interface could be created.

Some code can even be recycled directly from SLG, it is all Boost based and encapsulated in just one class. And in SLG you can transfer the current framebuffer over the telnet interface so it should work well for preview.

If you want to use the C or C++ API directly, let me know, but keep in mind the GPL issues by doing this.

Hi,

I could see that there is a c++ api in the sources of version 1.0. I tried to compile everything with VS 2010 but I failed. And I'd prefer to use the time to implement Lux into maya. I made some nice progress with appleseed (https://vimeo.com/48767375) and I think its a good point to try it with lux.

So if your offer is still valid, it would be great if I could get a precompiled c++ api.

Hi,

That'd be very nice if you could restore the Maya integration. The C++ API is available in the lux DLL that comes with the installer. You can get the headers from the repository: http://src.luxrender.net/lux/file/tip/cpp_api (the lux_*.h files)

Jeanphi, there is no DLL in the Windows version of Lux. We discussed this a few weeks ago, remember?. The Mac OS and, I guess, the Linux versions do but Windows doesn't, which makes this kind of approach not feasible if people want to write portable exporters/tools
Cheers.

Hi,

Indeed! My fault. Maybe LordCrc or you can provide a Windows DLL?

I can't, sorry. I work almost exclusively on Mac OS, running Windows in a VM, just because some of my customers use Windows.

I can try again, I had some issues last time, but I'll give it another shot.
May contain traces of nuts.
